Following the successful launch of Uth Records Episode 1 with underground Karachi band Jumbo Jutt, the exciting televised youth music platform is all set to air their second episode nationwide on 25th February 2011, debuting with their folk music selection, Yasir and Jawad from Peshawar.
Comprising of three members, Yasir (Rubaab), Jawad (Rhythm Guitar) and Wali (Vocalist), Yasir and Jawad maintain their Pashto folk tradition through their debut Uth Records single named after the renowned Pashto poem ‘Reidi Gul’.
Speaking about their work with Yasir and Jawad, producers of the project, Gumby and Omran Shafique of LJP Studios have said “These boys were a lot of fun. They have a very distinct pashto sound, and we initially had a difficulty in deciding which of their songs we should do. In the end we went with ‘reidi gul’ …The song is very simple yet hauntingly beautiful. The lyrical content is also really strong, so we thought we would keep it simple and just keep building up intensity as the song went on. The Y&J boys were great to work with and I think they will be happy with the results”.
Anas Ali Khan Brand Manager Uth Package has said “Talent has been proven to hold neither boundaries nor any restraints as proven by Yasir & Jawad. Their passion towards their culture and their music show great commitment that one can keep in-touch with their customs while taking a step towards their passion”.
Through Uth Records and as illustrated by the first chosen artists Jumbo Jutt, the music platform endeavours to show how talented young musicians can thrive in a professional music environment where one of their original compositions is refined through Uth Records’ in a specialised recording studio with some of Pakistan’s most gifted musicians guiding younger talent.
Directed by Zeeshan Parwez, Uth Records Episode 2 will be airing on ARY Digital, ARY Musik, ATV, Oxygene, TV One, Dawn and G Kaboom on 25th February.
