Pakistani band Mizmaar is all set to release their latest single Jogi this July, which is a collaboration with Indian vocal power-house Shubha Mudgal. Jogi is a soul-stirring single, inspired by the current global unrest as well as the emotional challenges being faced on a personal level by so many.
The song has been written and composed to beautifully bring together the musical styles of Mizmaar and Shubha Mudgal.
With this single, Mizmaar hopes to reach out and give hope to those facing conflict in their lives as well as those affected by global violence, something which seems to unfortunately be on the rise.
The collaboration of a Pakistani pop-rock band and an Indian classical singer in it-self embodies the importance of tolerance and peace, surpassing borders and eth-nicities.
In Jogi, Mizmaar has featured their new lead vocalist Asad Rasheed who is well versed in not just Eastern, but also Western styles of singing. Asad, who discovered his passion for music at the early age of 7, enjoys listening to a variety of music which includes Pakistani-pop and Western bands such as Linkin Park, Audio Slave, U2, Coldplay and Led Zepplin. His influences in music include David Cover-dale (Whitesnake), Ustaad Mehdi Hassan Khan Sahib and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Since their comeback, Mizmaar has been open to working with different artists on singles, as they believe this affords them the freedom to experiment with various kinds of sounds and genres of music.
Speaking about Jogi, Mizmaar’s frontman Kashan Admani says, “Jogi is an effort to compel people to think about coexisting and finding the right path to bring peace in the world”.
