It’s the biggest day of your life and while the traditionalists might be talking about this being a romantic day, it would be fair to say that most brides are purely thinking about the fashion-factor in the build-up. Granted, the romance does arrive eventually, but before that there are some style guidelines to satisfy.

Unsurprisingly, the dress tops this list. As we all know, this is the first thing that the newspapers try to get a glimpse of in the celebrity world and in the case of you, it’s the first thing that nosy relatives will be looking to see as well.

As we all know, the internet is a bit of a minefield when it comes to this sort of advice. Sure, it’s there, but you sometimes have to dig deep to find it. As such, we have filtered out some of the best infographics we’ve seen over recent times which talk about your wedding dress, and how you can get the best from it.

The most iconic wedding dresses of all time

Let’s kick proceedings off with an inspiration-style piece. Sure, not all of the dresses in this infographic are going to appeal to you, and if we go back in time some are absolutely hideous (with equally hideous price tags).
However, there are a lot of big designers

in here, and many of these dresses have absolutely stolen the show when it comes to the big day. Are you going to have $4m to spend on your dress like some of the brides in there? Probably not. There’s no reason why you can’t hit the bridal shops and have some of these styles in mind and at least try and replicate the looks though.

The most common wedding dress mistakes

Forgive this next infographic for being somewhat negative but as the saying goes, it needs to be done.

In fact, we found this infographic one of the most useful of everything that we published today. It might be quite simple in nature, but the tips are invaluable and will tell you exactly what you shouldn’t be doing with your dress ahead of the big day. It might be as simple as not relying on others to help you make your decision, but if you are in the market for your dress then at least keep these ten points in mind.

Choosing your wedding dress waistline

There are a whole host of guides out there which talk about how you should be choosing your wedding dress based on your body type, and so on.

We stumbled across this short graphic and found it a bit more useful. It’s quite specific, and just focusses on your waistline, but naturally this is quite a big element for your dress!
Becoming familiar with these six styles can really help you as you shop for your dress and gives you the basic differences between natural, princess, empire, Basque, dropped and asymmetrical styles.

Choosing your wedding dress necklines

This next resource is actually from the same page as the above, but we found it (almost) as valuable.

It doesn’t have the text to accompany each neckline, which is disappointing, but it at least provides you a glossary of the terms in which you can refer to. The small images also give a snapshot of just what you might want from your dress, whether it’s an off-the-shoulder look or something more like a halter. After quizzing a few brides-to-be, this was a resource that was surprisingly popular as it gives that quick glimpse of what you can get when it comes to your neckline.

The overall anatomy of a wedding dress

The last two resources have drilled down into the specifics about the neckline and waistline, but this final infographic we are picking out has everything on there. Sure, it doesn’t go into quite as much detail as the above, but if you are looking for a quick overview on everything that makes up the typical wedding dress then it does a very good job.

It’s something that you can study before hitting the bridal shops to at least give you that basic knowledge before you even look at a dress.
