Jawad Ahmad and His Men ‘Thrashed’ Lesco Officials Over Power Theft, Allegedly Snatched Meter

Singer Jawad Ahmad and his associates have been accused of assaulting officials from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) after they discovered power theft at a beauty salon in Johar Town. Lesco authorities have submitted an application to the local police station, seeking the registration of a case against Ahmad and his men for allegedly beating and harassing the staff and for snatching a faulty meter.

According to Lesco Airline subdivision SDO Muhammad Asghar, the incident occurred when the Lesco team arrived at the premises owned by the singer’s wife to inspect the salon’s electricity meter. “Some of our officials and I, on Wednesday evening, were accompanying the Lesco monitoring and laboratory team. When the team checked the meter at the salon, it was found to be tampered with. Its one phase was also dead,” SDO Afzal told Dawn.

The team proceeded to remove the faulty meter, but shortly afterward, Jawad Ahmad and three unidentified individuals arrived at the scene. According to Afzal, the situation quickly escalated into a quarrel, with Ahmad and his associates not only snatching the meter from the team but also physically assaulting two of the staff members.

“When I found the situation turning ugly, I called the police who drove all of us to the police station where we asked the police to make the singer return us the meter and pay the detection bill. We also asked police to register a case but to no avail,” Afzal explained.

Despite the assault and theft, police allegedly refused to register a case and instead suggested that the matter be settled on the spot. “Police rather asked us to settle the issue there and then and did not register the case. I brought this issue to the knowledge of my seniors who approached senior police officials,” Afzal added.

The case has sparked widespread attention, with Lesco officials calling for justice, while tensions between the authorities and the singer’s camp continue to simmer. As of now, it remains unclear how the matter will be resolved.
