Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may not even be in the United Kingdom but continue to make headlines as they will be missing out on their second Christmas with the Royal Family. In a break from royal traditions, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending their six-week break in the United States with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland. While their whereabouts are currently kept under wraps by the Palace, royal experts have confirmed that Meghan, Harry and their son Archie are in the US.
The family are expected to celebrate their first Christmas with son Archie in the US. While Queen Elizabeth has allowed the couple to travel overseas and celebrate the festival with Meghan's mum, the Duke and Duchess will be breaking several royal traditions. These include not attending the annual staff party and not walking with the royal family to church in Sandringham Estate for the annual Christmas Day service.
However, Meghan and Harry are expected to keep up with a few traditions. As is Christmas tradition, Meghan and Harry may send their very own Christmas card despite being in the US. The practice of sending Christmas cards has been carried down since Queen Victoria's time and Queen Elizabeth actively sends it every single year. Another tradition is sending out gifts to the Palace staff. While Queen Elizabeth sends gifts to everyone including the staff in all palaces, the Court Post Office and the Palace police, Meghan and Harry may do it in their own small way. The Queen also reportedly sends out 1,500 Christmas puddings a year to the staff.
