In 2022, several major celebrations will take place in London at the same time: the Second World War. Elizabeth is celebrating her platinum anniversary - the 70th anniversary of her reign on the royal throne and her 96th birthday.
According to sources from the royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on the guest list. The Mail on Sunday reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to take part in the Color Union parade that will be part of their anniversary celebration.
The question remains of whether they will be allowed into the inner sanctuary - Buckingham Palace's balcony - to sit alongside Elizabeth II and other Royal MPs on a traditional Royal Air Force flight.
This year and last year, a large-scale parade was canceled due to the terrible epidemiological situation. According to social media at Buckingham Palace, all events are scheduled to take place in 2022. In previous years, it was compulsory for all members of the royal family to attend such events.
However, it was recently reported that the attendance list at official events could be drastically reduced and restricted to working family members, which Prince Charles is actively advocating. It is not yet known whether Megan and Harry will remain on the "favorites list".
According to a source from the palace: “This will be decided closer to the event itself. There are certain restrictions on how many people can go onto the balcony. Surely at a time like this, there must be those who, alongside the queen, perform royal duties. The existence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is a big question mark. ”
In 2012, Prince Andrew was already a "victim" of such a scan. According to sources, his name was deleted by Prince Charles himself. Given their difficult relationship with their youngest son and repeated allegations from Meghan and Harry's royal family, they may not have room on the balcony.
II. The celebrations for Elizabeth's 70th reign will continue through 2022, but the most important day will be the weekend of June 2-5.
