The Hocane sisters have recently received a lot of backlash after her appearance on Good Morning Pakistan. The TV stars were seen relating eating junk with depression, stating how it was one of the root cause of depression.
People were quick to jump to conclusions, bashing Urwa Hocane for being insensitive about the issue and stating how it was not good for a celebrity with such a reach to utter nonsense about mental health and illness on television. The severe criticism that came her way, prompted the actress to take to her social media and open up about her struggles with depression, stating how she was misunderstood despite having good intentions.
I decided to never announce it but I have suffered depression for a couple of years, the process of recovery is perpetual therefore I would NEVER ever be insensitive to its existence & causes. I find it hard to say more than this because of the extensive scrutiny on every word I’ll now utter but I will be brave.
I emphasised on the “right food” because it has been an integral part of my healing process, helped me survive & recover ofcourse along with the Love & support of the people around me.
“The implication “ Processed Food is the “only” cause of Depression “ was not at all our intention but to bring attention to the vital role food plays. I was misunderstood despite my good intention. I have never been great at explaining my feelings in words and I do realise that therefore I keep away from interviews as much as I can,” stating that the two sisters were grateful that many their fans understood what the duo attempted to say.
Urwa ended her note stating that she hoped the backlash that came after the interview did not put off people with reach to speak about what matters to the best of their knowledge. She also urged her fans to not place celebrities on a pedestal so high that it became impossible to touch their hearts.
