Wake Up, Sid!

Wake Up Sid sounds like a regular feel good teen flick and one look at Sid played by Ranbir Kapoor confirms what it sounds like. But it stands out for its reality. Ranbir Kapoor is a spoiled Mumbai brat who flunks his final exam.  Ranbir Kapoor’s friends and family alienate Ranbir for his irresponsible behaviour.

Ranbir Kapoor ends up moving out of his family’s house consequently; he meets an ambitious writer Aisha Bannerjee played by Konkana Sharma at a graduation party. Wake up Sid doesn’t surprise as they become friends even though they have nothing in common at all. Wake up Sid might sound predictable to this point and it is too.

Konkana Sharma gets an editorial assistant job at a Mumbai magazine and then helps get Ranbir Kapoor in as a photgrapher intern.

What helps Wake Up Sid shine through is its ability to make audiences relate to it. Wake Up Sid has very real characters and very real feelings and very real issues.

Look around and you’ll see a Sid in every graduate just as you’ll find Aisha in every graduate too. Watch Wake Up Sid to agree.
