After nearly eight years of her association with Lakme, Kareena Kapoor Khan took the opportunity this fashion week to announce the launch of her own makeup line with the brand.
Aptly titled ‘Shades of a Diva’, the range draws from the different moods of the style icon herself. As is tradition, the grand finale for Lakmé Fashion Week takes its theme from Lakme’s biggest launch of the season.
And Monisha Jaising, who is synonymous with cocktail couture and resort, was perhaps the perfect fit to materialise this idea on the runway. Jaising has the ability to pull a crowd with ease. For her show this season, her collaborator for MXS and friend Shweta Bachchan Nanda, sat with Karan Johar and Sussanne Roshan, while Manish Malhotra arrived with his close friend Sophie Chowdry, and Alanna, Deanne and Ahaan Panday were spotted dressed up in finery in the front row.
The show started with a stellar performance by the dancers of the globally acclaimed circus troupe, Cirque Du Soleil, which is set to arrive in India later this year. Jaising’s lineup went from short cocktail dresses and beaded gowns to sari hybrids and taffeta gowns in solid hues. Kareena Kapoor Khan closed the show in an iridescent pleated number.
