Designed in collaboration with Samsung, this unique mobile phone combines the advanced acoustics and design ingenuity of Bang & Olufsen with the intelligent mobile engineering of Samsung. Designed by David Lewis who is currently B&O’s Chief Designer, he is also responsible for designing most of B&O’s award winning products since the 1980’s. Some of the products designed by him include the iconic BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 5 and BeoCom2 among many others.
To jog the memory of all the readers, the mobile phone was recently featured in the latest Batman movie- the Dark Knight utilised by Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman himself during the movie. The phone is available along with other Bang & Olufsen products at the Men’s Store in Pakistan who have exclusive representation of the brand in the country.
The Serenata is a mobile phone designed like no other with its black/aluminium finish, large aluminium wheel for menu navigation and a context- sensitive touch screen that can be letters for texting, numbers for dialling or album graphics when Serenata is playing music. At the bottom of the Serenata is the handset’s microphone, with the screen in between. This unusual positioning means that the screen doesn’t get greasy when talking into the phone.
While half of Seranata is devoted to music and the other half to the mobile phone, the built-in speaker delivers an outstanding sound for both, featuring two high-quality speaker units which, controlled by advanced digital signal processing, deliver precise reproduction of what’s being said at the other end of the line – or played from your list of favourite tracks. That’s in addition to ICE power-amplifiers which enable a surprisingly powerful sound to emanate from such a small space all from a speaker that glides up from the back of the phone.
The Serenata also comes with the EarSet 3, this 31 gm, aluminium finish; stereo headset has a built-in microphone and a 4 pole mini jack.
The Serenata is a 3G phone with HSDPA high-speed data, capable of download speeds of up to 1.8 Mbps, so you can enjoy streaming multimedia downloads, synchronise your Outlook calendar or browse the internet and with an impressive memory of 4GB, it can hold a library of compressed music in various formats. The phone has a talk time of upto three hours and standby time of up to twelve days.
