Palak Paneer


  • 1/2 kg Spinach
  • 1 Onion
  • 4 Green chillies
  • 3/4 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 200 gms cottage cheese (paneer)
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 2-3 Bay Leaves
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 4 tbsp cream
  • 4 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste


  • Make fine paste of onion and keep aside
  • Wash spinach leaves and remove hard stems
  • Blanch spinach leaves in water and drain
  • Put blanched spinach and green chillies in a blender and make a fine paste
  • Now heat vegetable oil in a frying pan
  • Fry cheeses cubes in it till golden brown and take out
  • Add onion paste to the same frying pan and sauté for 5 minutes
  • Add ginger garlic paste to it now
  • Now add cumin seeds and bay leaves to it
  • Add the spinach paste and all spices and cook well
  • Add lemon juice and mix the spinach well
  • Add fried cottage cheese to the spinach mixture and mix well
  • Add butter and cook till it separates
  • Now slow the flame and add cream
  • Take out palak paneer in serving dish and garnish with some fried cheese cubes

Serve with hot chapattis or boil rice

Palak paneer is a Pakistani dish served with chapatti or boil rice. It is made of simple ingredients and contains higher nutrition value.
